Wow. Thanks for posting, Steel!

This promo seems quite spoilery! You actually get so see Derek Reese, Cameron's damaged face all the way on Born to Run, and even Weaver stabbing the "waterboy" terminator as liquid metal! I guess it is meant for people who have seen the whole show already, or at least glimpses of it. Looks compelling enough, though.

My memory is fading. Can somebody help me remember who is the terminator shown in at index mark 0.21? (The index seems to count backward in time, starting from 0.29.) Is it the first Cromartie's stunt double?

If I'm not mistaken, it's the one we see on Dungeons and Dragons when the futuristic Derek Reese is captured and goes on a truck along with other prisoners.

Interesting to see their choice of emphasis in the promo.

I see Sarah is prominent, then John. While Cameron is shown a few times, she doesn't seem to be featured like she was in Fox's original TSCC promos. (Remember the shot where she had no arms and nothing below the chest.) WYSIWYG for the show, I guess.

The prominent one is... action... another bad advertising for a show whose main part ISN'T action...
And I agree Losa: it's an huge sequence of spoilers!!!
Very very bad promo!

Why an advertising before a promo (which is itself an advertising)?!?!

Have you never been in a shop, looked a product, asked the owner "what's this?" to get him replying "I don't know"?
That's the same: they bought the show only to "sell" it to the subscribers, they're not interested in it. And a subscriber is already a subscriber (and a non-subscriber will not subscribe only for a show).
They only needed something to display to advertise the show...
This DOESN'T justify the spoilers!!!

True too much focus in action

Big rating of people waiting for a 100% action TV show, in first and second group of episode

later TSCC rating will drop big

TSCC is like 70% Drama + 30% action

With this kind of advertisment people that like Drama will be scare and people that like action will be desappointment

SyFy must say in some way that TSCC is a Drama TV Show too.. Not only action

Actually TSCC is only "half" drama (since incomplete), so it was too sad(istic!) to advertise it as a drama.
People that like action hadn't viewed it anyway (but maybe, in this way, some will do).
If they advertised it as a drama they had really had angrily disappointed subscribers at the end of BtR!
They should advertise it simply quoting some phrases someone of famous wrote about the show, like the one in important reviews or the ones printed on the DVD cases, letting them to slide on some frames (so you also avoid spoilers). In this way what they say is openly not their words (you write the font under each phrase, officially to emphasize the authority of the description) and no one can claim with them!
You can do that with Powerpoint (or OpenOffice.org Impress) in 20 minutes at home :P

Ok

My idea of a good advertisment for TSCC if just say truth about TSCC

TSCC have a lot of Action true
TSCC have a lot of Drama true
TSCC is dark

And I repeat: if they advertise it as a drama they will really have a lot of angrily disappointed (ex-)subscribers at the end of BtR!
They should be neutral, "delegating" to existing reviews all the responsibility (quoting them with source)...
It's always a bad idea to sell something saying that's something else...

FOX made a huge mistake in promoting the crap out of Cameron when the show focused on Sarah. Fox did a bait and switch and people were upset about it. It just wasn't a smart move. The show is called The Sarah Connor Chronicles... the show is about Sarah Connor and her chronicles lol.. so, why did Fox always promote Cameron? I think Fox got wrapped up in the whole "Summer sells!" without realizing that other things do too.

As for the SyFy promo.. I don't see a problem with it. Yeah, they showed Derek.. so what? They didn't announce his name was Reese. yeah, they showed the LM, but so what? It wasn't that big of a shocking spoiler that she was LM. And to keep away from people that Cameron is really a Terminator so they are "surprised" for 2 seconds in the first half of the of the first episode is just stupid. There is a lot of badass **** Cameron does in the series, why not put it some of it in a promo?

And I have no idea what WYSIWYG means? hehe.. help me out

OK, I will play it straight and state my answer.

WYSIWYG is an acronym for What You See Is What You Get. It was coined in the personal computer industry approximately 20 years ago. It refers to the ability of a system to print exactly what is seen on a computer monitor screen. This was an important desirable attribute at that time because the printing function used to have limited font selection. You could observe a font on the screen but then your printed output would be in a different font, and perhaps your paragraphs would be formatted differently as a result.

In post #7 above, I described the prominence of Sarah and the deemphasis of Cameron in the promo, which I believed more accurately reflected what we saw in the actual show. Hence, the promo was a more honest reflection of what the viewers would experience -- WYSIWYG.

I agree that the show ends up focusing even more on Sarah than it does on Cameron, specially on season 2, but I understand completely that the promos focus on Cameron because the terminators are the main attraction of the franchise. The show is called "Sarah Connor Chronicles", but it's also called "Terminator" before that and foremost. The fact that the focus is higher Sarah is one the arguable reasons why the show failed.

About the promo, the only reason why I don't necessarily say it's too "spoilery" is because I admit it may be meant for people who have seen the show already. After all, this is syndication... Will there really be many totally new viewers? I don't really know...
If it's for new and fresh fans, I still say it's too much to show Cameron's damaged and exposed endoskeleton in Born to Run and Weaver stabbing "waterboy" terminator, which people can maybe tell he's not human just by looking at the promo...
