Firefox fix for Wetpaint bug: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox
Aug 21 2010, 3:10 PM EDT | Post edited: Aug 21 2010, 3:10 PM EDT
To fix the problem of being unable to click on Wetpaint links for Firefox users, go to this web page

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/

and click on the big green button "Add to Firefox."

Then subscribe to Easylist.

It is an adblocker. In addition to fixing your clicking problem, it will block the ads. If you would rather still see the ads, try disabling this ad blocker late next week, after Wetpaint has had a chance to fix the underlying problem. See if the clicks are back by then.

Well, also the infamous Untaint script works very fine... In addition to fixing your clicking problem, you can post media rich content... :D Do you find this valuable?

Thanks for the tip MetalHunter.

This is a potential disaster for Wetpaint. If everybody uses adblockers, then they won't get paid by the advertisers, so they lose their revenue.

Personally, I don't mind the ads. And I recognize that it is the ads that pay for our precious site. They don't bother me.

Disaster? This is the Judgement Day!

Let's be honest... Every installed adblocker will remain active undefined as time... This is the worst scenario ever, for a company living from adds...

How about Embedding Media in Thread Posts - by Professor Fermi?

And, yes. You should must to have a media posted on-line, even in this site (image gallery, etc).

I must thank wiki member Fermi for the Firefox fix. I learned of it from his post on the Summer Glau Wiki.

"Put on that red coat so Chris can order you around like a trained monkey."
When I moved into the red light Neighborhood years ago, there were a lot of people, plenty of activity every night. Crowds on the street, lots of chatter. The stores were busy. It was a hapnin’ place with diversions of all kinds. There were dudes on the corners trading PMs, macros, manips, and talking, some in loud laughing voices, others in hushed tones. But there were lots of gangs too, and J/AJ gang fights. It seemed like every night, somebody would get beat up or shot. The drive-by trolls were a problem also. Eventually it got real bad. Then it happened, a Judgment Day in May last year. Kinda scooped out the heart of it.

After a while, the cops came in and clamped down, shut down the buzz. People got disgruntled and started moving out. The streets started to get quiet. The stores started to close and move away. I heard the big action had moved across town to Another Neighborhood, one with blue lights, but I stayed.

Now, the streets of the old Neighborhood are pretty deserted. The windows are all covered up with plywood, and the wind blows dust and old papers down the sidewalks at night. There are no more gang rumbles, but I still see cars drive through sometimes at night, filled with hard faces and shiny eyes, and there are still muggings.

I hunch my shoulders as I shuffle down the street to my hole in the wall, staying away from the deep doorways and alleys, listening to the wind and for small sounds in the shadows. It’s not safe. No place is ever safe.

Now Coach asks me to put on a bright red coat and a big smile and walk down the middle of the road singing a song at the top of my voice. I can feel the bullseye on my back, the red laser dots on my shoulders? I can hear the predatory scrabbling in the shadows – they’re waiting for me. Should I go forth like this?

No . . . Sarah taught me better than that. I’ll not be going that way.

really the coach was just trying to say you impressed him with some of your theorys and explanations. you do come up with some good perspectives on T scc things.
about your post above, at fist I thought you were talking about
real life ! LOL
but then when you said blue light district I got what your reference was.
glad you hung around in the old red light district, we can handle the drive by trolls.

I've never seen a thread get derailed so quickly. Came here looking for some additional help with the buggy new html code from wetpaint. However, I found post 10 very poetic. A nice break from the usual postings.

Anyway, I've tried everything to get firefox to work with the buggy new wetpaint pages and nothing works other than using firebug to remove the offending code every time I open or refresh a page. Okay for a temporary fix, but i don't want to do this forever. I've tried toasty's wwetpaint bug fix script but still same problem.

1) Sure you have, at the blue wiki. Thread derailment from post 2 on happened once, if I recall correctly.

2) I briefly tried that script, but I think I'm hit by my usual issue where no new script I install works, but an old script I have does. A side effect of using nightlies with hacked up extensions.
What I use currently is pressing stop as soon as the page appears to have loaded. Sometimes not everything has loaded by then and it's still annoying, but I'll live until wettaint fixes this.

Russ I am using FF 3.5.6, and the add on adblock plus 1.2.1
I have recently updated the add ons, but have updates turned off on FF so it is still original 3.5.6.
and I have no problems with the pages or the links, so I think maybe it is not wetpaint problem but with your FF or add ons.
I have noticed no changes in any of the wikis, with links etc.
I used to have a problem with a page loading, and then continuing to load , and I had to click stop as you say, but that was before I updated to 356, and got the addon mentioned above. since then no problems.
if you let FF update it could cause other addons to not function correctly?
thats why I turn updates off and dont update unless I have to.
if it aint broke dont fix it LOL

edit so basically install version 356 to new folder and turn updates off, add the ad block 121, and then see if you have a problem using that [ use that FF .exe ] if it works ok then install other add ons and untaint etc. maybe one at a time to make sure they dont cause a problem. I have grease monkey, but not sure if I have untaint.... yeah I do-minimal

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, the problem exists for those who use other browsers too.
I'll try your suggestions later. Unfortunately, my schedule is not my own this week and wetpaint may fix the bug before then.

I have been affected. I just use IE7 with no add ons.

On Friday I had some problems with the cursor not showing up in the message block (area) when I would attempt to make a post. My work around was to click in the text of the Subject: line and then press the tab key to get the cursor down to the message block so I could type a post.

Things seem to have returned to normal for me with this post however, no tab key requred, just click the mouse down here and I have a cursor and can type.

Nope, not with this message though. A click of the mouse down here after clicking the post reply link did not give me a cursor were I can type.

I had to use the tab key like I mentioned above.

I made this post to inform about the search box not working on the upper left corner of the page. You can enter text up there but clicking with the mouse on the arrow pointing right does not generate any search activity.
