I wonder if this means they are back together? Although it was scripted dialog, Megan did refer to BAG as "my boyfriend." (not "my fiance")

Don't they realize that California is almost bankrupt? They don't get to print money like the Federal government does to pay off debt. There is no more money to pay teachers or anyone else probably.

"I can not understand How CaliforniaI had a conversation with a friend sometime ago about California's situation. My friend, a voting resident of California, said that taxes were too high and should be lowered, services like police/fire and education should be improved, and the state's deficit should be reduced. Of course, I was unable to convincingly explain the contradictory nature of these three goals. (Noting here that the state's tax rate was still on the positively-sloped portion of the Laffer curve.) Perhaps we are seeing the ultimate effect of Proposition 13 and associated rulings -- the creation of a populace that is unable to understand budgeting. (If I may provide a biased interpretation of Proposition 13, the voters were asked a direct question of whether property taxes should be limited, understanding that this would likely result in a cutback in the quality of public schools. Since there are always fewer voters with school age children than not, school funding lost out to lower taxes, not a good thing in the long run.) Do you find this valuable? |

"I can not understand How CaliforniaFor decades, California has been increasing and increasing the benefits and expenditures to everything connected to or dependent on the state government. They increased taxes constantly like every state but they increased all their expenditures and entitlement programs beyond a sustainable limit. The public can no longer produce enough to pay for the taxes and expenditures. Basically, they are spending way more than they can extract from the public. There's just no more money left. Something has to give, or the teachers are going to receive state IOUs instead of a pay check,. In fact, CA has already had to use IOUs instead of payments for some expenditures. I don't understand why it cost so much money to educate children that turn out basically uneducated and stupid any ways. I mean what did people do 50 years ago to learn at a fraction of the cost today. They must have still been living in caves 50 years ago, apparently, and didn't require an education. People need to use a little common sense and wake up to reality. BAG and Megan Fox should talk about something they understand, tattoos and the best places to get a tan. Do you find this valuable? |

the problem is called overpopulation. If the population of a area [state] rises too quickly it overwelms the infrastructure. More people doesnt mean more money for the state to spend. also every govt mismanages the $ they do have to spend. the independent public school district's also mismanages the $ , and are sometimes corrupt. some ISD officials where i live were caught spending over $200,000 on things that were for them personally with school accounts. with no one overseeing their expenditures this possibly happens more than you might think. the thing no one seems to think about is how many people can a city safely have? how many people can a state safely have? how many people can the US safely have? is there a limit? I say there is, but this is never mentioned anywhere. it would seem that people think all 3 can hold a unlimited amount of people. Do you find this valuable? |

" the problem is called overpopulation.True. And California is so big that people do not often consider such limitations. (It is listed as the eight largest economy in the world in terms of GDP, behind the U.S., Japan, China, Germany, France, the U.K., and Italy, and just ahead of Brazil.) Do you find this valuable? |

" the problem is called overpopulation.I don't think that's the problem of California or the U.S. (or any of the big states of the Western world). The problem simply is, that over decades now money has been spent that actually was not there. And the politicians lead the (stupid or ignorant) people (which obviously never want to hear the truth until it's too late) to believe that this would work forever on. Now we are (almost) bankrupt and have to contract debts already to only pay the interests on debt. It's a shame that there should be not enough money for education, when there's still always enough for the military (just look at the astronomical sums of money spent there) or the corrupt and criminal financial "industries" (look what was given to them during the financial crisis). Just let those, who rake in incredible amounts of money like the oil industry, the financial sector etc, pay reasonable taxes, and financing education should not be a big deal. But well, that would mean that our governments would resist the big lobby interests. Why should they, when they are often even the same persons (e. g. Bush dynasty). As for California, how stupid and naive are people? If I remember well, some years ago, they refused in a referendum an increase in taxation. Of course nobody wants to pay (more) taxes, but obviously nothing comes from nothing. Is this platitude really too difficult to understand these days? PS: The vid of Brian and Megan is really funny, but doesn't contribute to the solution of the problem at all. It's just the usual populist and convenient demand for more without any suggestion how to finance it. SurfingEagle is right, when he advices BAG and Megan to talk about something they understand, tattoos and the best places to get a tan. ;-)) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"PS: The vid of Brian and Megan is really funny, but doesn't contribute to the solution of the problem at all. Thanks for the affirmation. I saw the vid on the news. It actually made it to cable news. It was funny but seemed more like a slam on Arnold like he's a big meanie. But CA has the highest paid teachers in the nation. The problem is not that businesses and individuals are not being taxed enough. CA has had overspending problems for years. That was the main issue Arnold ran on for governor (the budget problems). CA government has to cut back everywhere. It's that when it comes time for the school system to make their cuts, they start crying and hiding behind children saying you're hurting the children. If you don't give us money, children will suffer. It's just a manipulation. Of course, school systems make this same argument all over the nation every year. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

The line Megan Fox says that really gets me is "call the governor until he goes and cries to his mom". Well, first of all, Arnold's mother died twelve years ago back when Megan Fox was still dreaming of her first training bra. Secondly, he had already become a legend in body building winning the most Mr. Olympia titles of anyone in the sport at that time as well as being a movie star and house hold name before Megan was even born. Do they expect anyone to take that plea seriously. What mindless narcissistic arrogance. Really, Megan Fox shouldn't say anything publicly. Strike that. She shouldn't say anything at all outside of a script that someone hands her for a movie. If it wasn't for her looks, what would this girl have.

She may be a lot younger than Arnold, but that doesn't make her statements any less worthy of consideration. If older and more successful individuals should make statements, perhaps their arguments have more merit, but such merit should be reflected in the soundness of what they are saying. Having said this, I find I disagree with what she is saying, as my comments above do indicate. I don't think Megan is "as dumb as a rock" as some of her detractors have claimed. But I do think she is likely not as smart as she is pretty, since she is so pretty she would have to be a genius to be comparably smart (and she has not shown herself to be a genius). Based on her public image and interviews, her maturity level and style also seem to lag her looks. I think all these elements are still evolving for her, and she has not yet found her own level, so to speak. If so, maybe she is right that it is too soon for her to get married. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"My opinion is that I should consider Megan's statements on their own merit, not be biased by the source."Well, those words we're probably not her own but she did agree to say them as part of a PSA. So, she owns them now. When it comes to a PSA, I disagree about the authority the speaker should have on the topic of the PSA. For example, If Tiger Woods and Jesse James did a PSA on the virtues of marriage and being faithful, I would be on the floor laughing. That would make a good SNL skit. I don't believe that MF knows anything about the CA government. That being said. She's just the wrong person to try and challenge Arnold and say something that would question his toughness and strength. So, they're stupid for trying to use her this way and have her take that attitude or even approach the topic from that position. I've said some critical things about Summer Glau in the past, but I can say one thing for Glau: she always gives Arnold, her predecessor, respect, and she doesn't run her mouth like Megan Fox. Glau doesn't say a lot, but she at least knows how to keep her mouth under control at least up to this point in her life. I will agree with you in one sense. We are all imperfect, and we understand ideals a lot better than we live up to them. So, it's true that occasionally a true and rational statement can come from anyone if the person listening is able to discern it. The person making the statement doesn't make the statement true or factual but it certainty helps when the person has some authority on the topic. Do you find this valuable? |
