I just picked up an XBOX 360 and Terminator Salvation. I enjoy the game. I don't have it setup with Xbox Live (I need an extended ethernet cable) yet but I ordered a second controler so my friends can play Coop with me at home.I have all of the achivements except Supreme Commander (or something) which you get when you complete the game on the hardest setting. What do I like about it? 1) The character models look cool when they are carrying their AR15 carbines. 2) The cooperative nature of the game play. The reviews (IGN.com? I forget) were honest when they explained how the game allows your character to move from different cover locations. 3) The enemy graphics. The T600's look really cool, not 10 feet tall like in the Salvation movie. They take damage but sometimes it doesn't register (hey it's a Terminator) because of the range or a piece of terrain is in the way of the vital area. They move well and it is carry to be pinned down by groups of them. 4) Arnold tried to use an RPG7 against the TX in T3 and John Connor is able to pick up and use this weapon in the game. Also there is a retractable stock M79 which looks light weight and very cool. The M79 has it's own site reticle which I didn't know how to use until halfway through (or any of them actually) the game. 5) The story line takes you through lushly over grown and demolished parts of the LA metropolis. Sometimes you have to find your friends inorder to locate the path through the storyline because the world of the game is richly drawn with an urban park, several strip shopping centers, a demolished hotel and gas station, a crashed hunter killer and several dead resistance fighters. 6) The voice acting is ok. I really like how Moon Bloodgood calls to John Connor when he is low on ammunition. John asks for ammo too. I totally like this because I remember fun times with the coin operated (continued) Do you find this valuable? |

(edit)3).. ..it is scarry to be pinned down by groups of them. (T600's with gatling cannons) (continued) coin operated game where Arnold's voice says "reloaded." Moon's voice delivery and movements during the cinematic cut scenes mesh with the game action, camera perspective and the rest of the actor's costuming to deliver an experience that kept me at the console for several consecutive hours. 7) My weapon of choice is the Shotgun. It is useful to hit the aerostats and it does enough damage to endos to bring them down if you are not in the endo's sites. (All T600's carry the gatling weapon.) I don't use the shotgun on endo's at longer ranges. That would call for the RPG 7 but the endos usually attack in locations where John does not exactly have much room for escape. (spoiler warning) 8) At the end of the game a flight of A10 aircraft overfly John Connor to deliver a small nuclear strike on a Skynet target. As a precaution, the lead A10 fires its gatling cannon and it's awesome. 9) As the preview videos show, Terminator Salvation has some night time action but the game also progresses through the morning, afternoon, and evening so different light effects contribute to the spooky environment. There are mass transit tunnels and Moto- Terminators which have articulated parts and show up well in 3D. 10) Despite the violence of the game and the deadlyness of the Skynet enemys, John Connor does inspire Blair (Moon Bloodgood), Barnes and the rest of characters to avoid giving up hope in the face of Skynet and to value the lives of their comrades. The message is small but I think I got something about discussing shared values when dealing with leaders of other groups. There may not be a 'life is sacred' achievement but one of the chapters in the game has those words as a title. Do you find this valuable? |

I've never actually played it, but from what I heard it's basically a Gears of War clone. If you like TPS's and REALLY want a Terminator related game, then I guess it's ok. (If you go by critic scores though, it scored very poorly, mostly 5/10s) The problem I have with it (and the reason I didn't buy it) is that the campaign is REALLY short. As in less then 5 hours. No gamer should ever pay full price for a game that short. Even if you played the game with co-op that'd net you maybe another 2-3 hours at most. I'm sure you could find the game in the bargain bin now. If you can find it for 10-15 bucks I guess it's an ok buy. In a nutshell: If you're a gamer: A generic, flawed TPS, with the Terminator label slapped on. For a Terminator fan: A decent game that ties in with Terminator: Salvation 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I've never actually played it, but from what I heard it's basically a Gears of War clone.I was at Best Buy last week and the game was still selling for $19.99. I picked it up at GameStop for a few dollars less. It was the second game for the Xbox 360 consol I purchased. (The first game was "Lost Planet: Colonies Edition") More recently I was at Wal-Mart intending on picking up a 24 pack of diet soda ($5). Before finalizing my decision, I headed over to the DVD racks and saw that "Terminator Salvation The Machinima Series" was selling for $5. On the shelf next to it was T3 Rise of the Machines while a special limited edition of The Terminator was selling for $7.50 on a different rack out in the main isle. The Terminator included a limited edition Terminator print inside the DVD case. I took home the Machinima Series and thought it was a good show. The directors were able to use the game engine and the actor’s voices to come up with a prequel to Terminator Salvation set in 2017 in the post J day LA basin. I had sort of low expectations from this purchase but what impressed me was the lack of expected repetition as seen in some cartoons (Johnny Quest season 1). The directors were able to use the game engine to produce dramatic camera perspectives. You will recognize the same characters faces from the game. The story is told from Blair Williams’s point of view. The extras include a character profile on Blair and a behind the scenes “the making of” The Machinima with comments from the producer and game programmers. I’m a little foggy but I believe that there are six episodes to Blair’s story. I hadn’t read the novels so I didn’t realize much of what Kyle Reese’s work involved being in TechCom but that is an element in the plot of the game and The Machinima series story. I found this album with screen captures from the game trailer already on this wiki and decided to add a few more images. It's kind of interesting that the HK from this video game had 3 Terminator eyes on it's nose. I think that the HK screen shot I uploaded was from the PS3 version of the game while the rest of the screenshots in this album came from the Xbox360 version. http://sarahconnor.wetpaint.com/photos/album/107947/Terminator+Salvation+The+Videogame%2FLaunch+Trailer+screencaps Do you find this valuable? |
