OT: SG of DH: Wow!

She found love (seemed like REAL love, so TSCC fans would appreciate that...)

She got whacked. Derek Reese style, no less, although I suspected it maight "go there" but the scene did turn on a dime...

I thought it was a great ep. Actually has me wanting to see what will happen next, even without any more SG in it. And her backstory was kinda cool too.

Discuss.

Hi Chris ;-)

This was an awesome episode. I'm really glad that I stuck to Dollhouse. The whole season two was very strong. And Summer is just the icing on the cake.
How she played Bennett was simply amazing. But I like the rest of the cast as well. Of course I can't wait to see the last two episodes. I've good hope that Dollhouse will get a good conclusion, something we sadly may never get with TSCC.
Here are some snapshots:

But Eliza did a good job too:

That was a great montage of pictures, TSCC1000!
You did that yourself, right? What a lot of work, man!
I'm also glad you got to like Dollhouse and stuck with it. That's rare coming from a hardcore TSCC fan, apparently.
Summer with the huge geeky glasses was indeed priceless!

Great pics !!

It is funny how DH only got really good when FOX decided to end it .
DH was weak in season one, and season 2 started off a little better, but it has only been the last 1/2 doz or so that
really started to get the ball rolling.
It really is too bad Josh W waited so long before he turned it up a few notches.
Just imagine if DH had been this good all along !! ( this is coming from a die hard TSCC fan )

You know, it has been hinted on the Dollhouse wiki (if I'm not mistaken) that now that the show is canceled, Fox is out of the way and they don't interfere with Joss's work anymore, so that's partially the reason it's so awesome now. They just don't care anymore and let Joss pull all his crazyness!
I don't know how much truth there is to this, but I like it!

Also, the show is about to end, so it's natural it does so with a bang. I'm guessing they couldn't and wouldn't go this far if the show were to carry on for an unknown future.

Ok, I don't watch this show. Haven't seen any of the episodes. So, I don't care about the spoilers I see. But, seeing those pictures up there, whose idea was it to put her in those giant glasses? Those are the biggest glasses I've ever seen. :D They look ridiculously big. Are they trying to make her intentionally look homely? LOL Somebody call the former TSCC make up and wardrobe people and get them over there to DH pronto.

She looks tired in the second set. Get some sleep.

You know what I think, she should have tried out for a role in Caprica or one these popular vampire series. Those kind of shows are going places these days.

Edit: Actually, she could probably still try for a role in Caprica as it's on going. I don't even want her in it myself, but that's what I would recommend. Those are some people that know how to make sci-fi.

Interesting observations.

The other thing that struck me was that the story seems to be focused on explaining the mysteries of the premise and fighting the bigger fights. Like Echo is fighting Rossum instead of what she used to do, which was fighting her weekly client assignment as a doll.

I find that I enjoy much more seeing her in the bigger fights and having the mysteries explained. To me, this is much more interesting than seeing her weekly assignments.

And of course they are doing the bigger fights and the explanations because the series is ending. I.e., in another three episodes, there will be nothing left. It all goes out here. To use Joss Friedman's expression, they are "burning the barn down."

Perhaps Joss might have ended the TSCC series with a more satisfying ending if he had known about being canceled a few months earlier? (Shudder. Perish the thought.)

I hated it. Whedon once again relies on shock value rather than good writing and storytelling. SG was great in it.

Now I get to see that goddamn .gif in every single SG/Firefly/TSCC thread on the net... forever. The trolls are yucking it up the chief troll being Joss Whedon.

Seeing this crap makes me even more furious that they canceled TSCC for this garbage. I suffered through 20+ hours of terrible Dusku acting and worse Joss dialog for this?!

You need to know that SG was playing the uber-geek on DH, and did a great job. In just a few scenes you got to

1.know this person
2. find out about her back story
3. give a damn about what happened
4. get immersed in her story very quickly
5. see her play a wickely sweet big bad with wonderful quirks that just let you know she was going to do something wickly BAD - but you didn't know what it was so stayed tuned to find out
6. see her take you through lots of twists and turns with her story
7.. actaully CARE about her and why she was the way she was and how she got there
8. see her have an real emotional reaction - setting aside the big bad stuff for a moment - and display real feelings for another human being AND herself
9. become a character that played a central role in the main and several plot arcs in a short period of time
10. play off the other babes on the show - Echo, "Fred," the Asian geek tech, the Asian chick that is the (very hot) Doll(, and the British head of the LA Division, and hold her own even playing a geeky super brain!

I think that was quite an accomplishment! So kudos to SG for her permance: she did TSCC fans proud. No doubt about her acting "chops" and I think she'll have a long and prosperous career. But I'm biased, bc she's FAMILY!

Thanks to all of you contributing to this thread: good to see some posting life still on this wiki.

Who for heaven's sake did force you at gunpoint to watch it???
Sorry, but I would say ... just blame yourself! ;-))

PS: Interesting that there are still a few, who believe TSCC was cancelled because of Dollhouse ... hopeless case. ;-)

Settle down, Roscoe:

I admit I myself couldn't "get into" DH even when it played with TSCC, but that's my thing. I was a fan of Buffy and Angel, so I tried to give ED a shot.

One of my tech buddies that went back a started watching TSCC from the beginning (back when we were promoting to save the show, suggested that DH "had it's moments." I didn't know if they were good or bad, but it seemed to me that most of what went on could have easily been performed by a roll playing high slass escort service. In fact, I am sure they do.

But the unaired ep set in the detroyed future was the first that grabbed my interest, and then lately viewing these eps with SG in them has me at least respecting the work that JW put out with this show. I no nothing of the past plot arc but find myself enjoying the story I knew nothing about (and didn't care), and, actually wanting to see more of it.

Hey, TSCC finnished storng. I think DH fans have a strong case for diret to DVD movies just like we do.

And for the record: where do WE get the attitude that in order for TSCC to survive we must put down other shows and films (DH, T4 are the prime examples)? I think we should be "bigger" than that!

I think you're perfectly right, Losa.

It's better this way (at least for my taste) than what might have been done by Joss initially.

Sex, secrets and 'Dollhouse': Joss Whedon talks about the end of his Fox show
After having read this, I'm not sure that I would have liked the show as much as I actually do, if JW had done it much more as he initially wanted. ;-))
-->
"... But Whedon also talked about how he has been "frustrated" by Fox's skittishness when it came to what he thought would be one of the show's central concepts: The exploration of sexuality and intimacy, in all its forms. ..."
What??!! Doesn't sound too much like a Sci-Fi show ... ;-)

Ok, well that looks a little bit too much geek for anyone. One would have to go out of their way to look that geeky.

As for DH, I won't watch it. I will look at some screen shots, but that's it. So, I'll never know all that you're saying there. It's a defunct series anyways. Why bother wasting the time. I didn't like it before. So, I doubt I will like the end of the series either. Besides, SG always causes me a lot of trouble. That trouble has diminished as TSCC has rode off into the sunset. But, that's something for me to avoid in the future.

What she needs is like a military role. Maybe, like an officer or something. She could be stoic and disciplined but not weird. You know what I mean. She's done weird enough already. She's got that down pat. She needs like a command role to a certain degree. Not necessarily high ranking but something to give her a different status and a different feeling or challenge or something.

I think she played some unforgettable roles as River Tam and Cameron. The role as Bennett would have had great potential too, but sadly it wasn't meant to be.
So absolutely yes, she should go for further Sci-Fi roles, that's what made her special.
For boring "normal girl next door" roles there are more than enough actresses. ;-)
