Saving Sarah Connor... on TV (savethescc)
Jan 5 2010, 12:35 AM EST
http://www.savethescc.com/saving-sarah-on-television/From savethescc: "The efforts to save The Sarah Connor Chronicles have come together in a billboard, in movie theatre ads, in stickers around the world, in this community that we know won’t give up. And now, we’re going to hit television. (How’s that for irony?) How? Google TVAds allows users to purchase television advertising space through a bidding system. This means that our airtime is determined by how much we choose to bid for a particular time slot and the competition for it. This also means that this will not be the kind of prime time advertisement that you might be used to seeing, though we will be capable of tracking the number of households reached, etc. (And no, it’s not Nielsen.) Right now, we’re working on developing the ad itself and we need the help of you, the fans. This advertisement is a message from us to any fan out there that might not know about the fight to save The Sarah Connor Chronicles, to television network executives and media. This ad will be just that: a message from you, from us. The advertisement will incorporate a series of ‘messages’ from the future, from fans fighting for the show. Those fans are you. So we’re asking you to be part of it. We’re taking open submissions for the advertisement" go to the link for more information http://www.savethescc.com/saving-sarah-on-television/ 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

I would suggest using only fan vid of younger viewers40 and under , as that is the people advertisers are interested in. same for networks. and if you actually get the ads on tv some advertisers or tv execs will find out about them and maybe see them.if you dont care about that then any age will do. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Lol the main thing you need to do before starting the advertisement is recruit the old members and fans, because a lot of them will have given up and not bothered to check this site I only did by chance and had no idea about this advert your planning till now. So I think you need to advertise strange as it may sound to the people you want to help do the advert the best places I could think of would be youtube or fanfiction because there are a lot of fans on there that write about TSCC. But I am on board with the advert thing anything to get the show back on the air, its been so **** since it got cancelled and theres no way in hell I'm watching dollhouse even if Summer Glau is on it I can't stand that show.

"Why would we care about what advertisers like? WE are the advertiser. "It does not matter to me, but the problem tscc had in the ratings was our demo rating was too low which meant mostly older viewers. if we had had a higher demo rating meaning most of the viewers were under the 49 and 34 category tscc would still be on tv. even ncis a few years back was in trouble because of their low demos which said the show skewed old. and they were doing about 12 mil in total viewers at the time. you did mention "to television network executives" in your statement so that is why I brought this up. the more young fans you have do this the better it would look to any of the networks whether cable or regular tv. and other young people would relate to other younger people better but hey whatever you do is better than nothing, so go for it. just keep in mind not everyone has a video camera, I dont. and as mosherguy18 pointed out not many coming here now. however you could contact any of older members [ who didnt cancel acct.] through pm and see if they will come back or do this vid. they should get a e-mail if you pm them. A couple of things to the last two posts. One, this isn't the only place we have advertised this campaign. This wiki is not the center of the SCC fandom. It just one piece of the puzzle. Alsol, I'm not going to PM every fan on this wiki to tell them about this... that is why I made a thread about it. If you know SCC fans that don't come on here regularly, then spread the word to them. Second of all, if someone doesn't have a camera.. what exactly would you suggest we do about that? That's out of our control. If people can't participate due to lack of equipment, that's unfortunate but nothing can be done about it. Third of all, we're not going to just choose younger people. Or older people. Or any specific group of people in particular. We are taking submissions from anyone that will submit and we will choose who we feel are the best for what we're looking for and that best fit the "role" or what we want to achieve in this advertisement. If there's one thing to know about this fandom it's that it has such a wide range in who the fans are. Old, young, different cultures, backgrounds, ethnicities, interests, etc. This advertisement is to raise awareness to both fans and anyone else that will see it. We're still here. We're still fighting. Join us. Do you find this valuable? |

Yeah I signed the petition. An interesting idea I heard ...not sure where......Why not approach the network, or Halcyon ( if they ever get out of their mess) with an offer to pre-purchase the direct to DVD movie/mini series ?? Money talks, and if enough of us from around the globe put in the cash, I can't see why it wouldn't get done. Problem is, does this have to wait until the Terminator rights are settled? "A couple of things to the last two posts. Give it a rest Schmacky. I see savethescc have come up with yet another money making scam, again asking fans to pay to promote the site (in the guise of promoting the return of TSCC). People are slowly catching on to you lot, I see. If this doesn't work, you'll all have to come up with some other merchandise to add to the expensive re-badged stuff already on sale. To true fans around here, for what it's worth save your money. No doubt these TV adverts will have a link to the site in someway, and non-primetime advertising is going to do nothing to bring back TSCC. Nor is the continuous purchase of DVD's. The only people that benefit are those that get commission from the sales. Support the show by posting in this wiki. If anything will bring back the show, it is the continuous posting and pure interest that has been shown here since before the show was canceled, not the odd scam, paid for by true fans, that does more to promote the site than the show. This place is where Fox and other TV channels will look, and anyone else interested will easily find there way here. Do you find this valuable? |

Please tell me you're joking lolI mean... seriously? First of all, we haven't even asked for donations yet lol and you're already bitching. And what scams? We asked people to pay for a billboard and what happened? A billboard drove around LA for 3 days. We asked people to pay for movie theater slides and what happened? THey played in the movie theaters. Anyone who has purchased merchandise received it. Yes, there is a donate button on the site. And what does it say? All donations go towards running savethescc.com and its campaign. And that's where the money goes. It does not go towards any person in particular, no member of savethescc has received any money. In fact, we've lost a lot of money since we all donate to all our causes as well. You want to think it's a scam? Fine. But you're pretty stupid if you do. And seriously? You're telling people NOT to buy the DVD? Oookay then. I'm sure this wiki alone will cause a continuation of the story... uhhhh huh. Do you find this valuable? |

I agree with Schmacky!!Any donations made have gone to help support the drive to bring back TSCC. Saving TSCC was not brought about to make money for one person, it was created to help get our message to the ones in power so that they are aware of a world wide loyal group of people with a unified goal to bring back something they happened to love!! Having a negative attitude about it will only hurt what we want to accomplish. If some are not willing to help , then they need not worry about losing any money, but they should refrain from criticizing others that are willing to go to any lengths to help get TSCC back ....in some way or form. "Give it a rest Schmacky. I see savethescc have come up with yet another money making scam, again asking fans to pay to promote the site (in the guise of promoting the return of TSCC).To piggy-back on Schmacky's comments, the notion that posting on the wiki will bring back the show is ludicrous, and telling people not to buy dvd's/Blu-ray's is outright absurd. You can decline to support the savethetscc efforts all you want - I certainly don't think it's the right approach; we have to prove to whoever ends up in a position to bring back the show can make money, which isn't done by a small handful of fans buying up ads - but sliming the webmasters as scamming money seems a bit far without some evidence. Yes, we've seen that happen before, elsewhere, but so far everything they've said they would invest in, they have. But the bottom line is that TSCC comes back only when it becomes obvious that there's a profit to be made. That's going to be a hard sell no matter how you slice it: there's the rights issue with Halycon's bankruptcy; WB apparantly owns the rights to the derivative characters so they *have* to be involved, which means we have to factor in what, if anything, they've lost so far in that equation, but ultimately any effort has to translate into sales of DVD/Blue-Ray sets, because that is what is going to show whoever is responsible for this decision that the effort will be worth it.
