Good postgreat article I can not understand a great TV Show, with good critics, good writing, about family, love, never surrender.... And Fox, WB, Halcyon..... Friedman hasn't said anything except a blog post after the show was canceled. That's one thing.Second, as for the article, this pretty much encapsulates what I've realized rewatching episode 2. First off, some of you know I came pretty late to the party. I actually started watching the show on Episode 9, Complications, and I missed the entire first season's broadcast. Mainly what got me to tune in was an IGN review. So I missed out on much of the Riley hate, though I picked up pretty quickly that the show has John Connor with Cameron as his love interest. Watching the first episodes again, knowing what happened in the last 6, suddenly makes multiple things apparent with the Season. Just a few are Riley's character who is quite tragic and underappreciated by many when she first appeared. She's both a transference of John's feelings for Cameron and a symbol to John, namely, can he get himself out of his own predicament of being this savior, which he clearly doesn't want to be (which makes a lot of sense, who in their right mind wants to be General Connor, as it's a curse, not a blessing). Second, the marked shift in tone occurs from the get go, when Cameron stops being a character with a humorous dimension, namely, her mistakes in integrating/infiltrating human society (such as the girl's bathroom scene in Season 1). That's because her true nature as a programmed killer is brought home to John and Sarah. Derek's warnings in S1 turn out to be true. Third, the setup with Weaver and The Turk is a classic case of bait and switch. We're led to believe initially she's setting things up for Skynet when she's really preparing the way for John Henry, Skynet's rival and apparently a bigger threat than Sarah Connor (notice how in Born To Run the Water Delivery Guy Terminator doesn't switch targets to go after Sarah and John, he keeps going after Weaver and JH). 2 out of 2 found this valuable. @Godfather:Good observations. Anyone who says JF and Co didn't have their ducks in a row and all things planned out (at the very least, generally) have no idea what they're talking about. Really forward-thinking TV right here. Too bad FOX didn't know what they had or how to market it. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I recognize the joking phrase here, but I agree with The Crusader. Yes, we've helped our cause with good DVD sales in the USA. But, Halcyon has those bankruptcy issues and James Middleton, our biggest supporter, works for them. If Halcyon sells off the franchise to someone else, then Middleton's out of a job, and we lose the one man who can really get WB interested in a DVD movie, which apparently he already has.
