He had a bs death if you ask me, it wasn't even epic or anything. He turned the wrong corner and then boom- head shot.I guess it was fitting, i may not of liked it, but he had a believable death. Like enigma said, no slow mo or dramatic scene. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

He died like a soldier. No glory or slow motion ending with a long speech. It was very believable (and it was even better the way they brought him back).

I was shocked and outraged when I saw it. I definitely did not like it. I wondered how could they waste his death like this? -- it should have been an emotional and dramatic event, not like this! You have probably already read the explanation: http://terminatorwiki.fox.com/thread/2659325/Toni+Graphia+on+Derek%27s+Death?maxResults=20 Artistic license? Derek died like a soldier , he was fighting and was killed just like it could happen to anyone. Why have one of those long drawn out sappy deaths , when it was more fitting for him to die just like it can in the real world . One second you are alive , the next you are gone.............. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

It was definitely a WTF moment, but I imagine people that lead that kind of life die like that all the time.. Do you find this valuable? |

I thought it was very interesting that at the end of To The Lighthouse we have Charley all in slow mo going out in a blaze of glory and we a slow, dramatic music, sequence of Sarah finding Charley's body in the water...And the very next episode, 15 minutes in we have Derek who is a main character, die so suddenly, so needlessly, so not-drawn out with slow mo in a blaze of glory and it was very... startling. It made an impact, it made a point. That's his life and that's his death. He's there to fight a war.. sometimes to save lives, sometimes to take lives. Every meal he has, he never knows if that's his last one. And in a moment, in an instant.. he's just gone. That's war. He was a soldier and that was a soldier's death. No heroics. No music. No dying last words. Just.. gone. As much as I was shocked and hated the fact that he died, I sort of appreciated the way he went down. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

His death was as real as it gets. It was fitting. And then the aftermath....Sarah taking his ID and his gun and everyone just leaving him and moving on with their mission....This is war. There is no time to grieve during a battle. Everything isn't always ok and people die turning corners, stepping on mines, whatever. Even the best soldiers are vulnerable and they don't always go out in a blaze of glory.

"I thought it was very interesting that at the end of To The Lighthouse we have Charley all in slow mo going out in a blaze of glory and we a slow, dramatic music, sequence of Sarah finding Charley's body in the water...I agree and yet don't. I really hated that they killed the character at all. He anchored the show in many ways. People in harms way really do die that way. SEALS can be taken out by a stray bullet that was fired by a 15 year old. That was realistic. It was however just another way that season two felt disconnected from its own audience. Derek was a much stronger character in season one and his place in what used to be team Connor was missed for the only entire full season that the series ever got. It was tragic. I could feel more open minded if the average viewer loved season two as much as season one. However, it was just another let down. On this one, count me in as a bitter Derek fan. Mike, I see where you're coming from..I think Derek's death hurt even more because Derek as a character sort of went downhill in S2. While there were some awesome things about Derek in this last season.. he just wasn't used to his full capability. So it left SO much more work to be done with his character in relation to the others and with his death... all those possibilities die as well. It's like a double whammy :( Do you find this valuable? |

"Derek's death was more of a shocker than Camerons'"I didn't see Cameron die. O I see it's you. I loved your video. Everything revolves around Cameron in your world, obsessed like the vid says. About Derek, his death was one of the best in tv history for me. No last speech or none of the cliches. Just offed like an extra before the opening credits rolled. I thought it was brilliant. Derek may be dead in the present timeline , but , he is alive in the future timeline !!Same goes for Alison and Kyle !! Possibilities are endless as to what can happen now. And like I said before....Derek died like a soldier.........Not that I wanted his character to go, he had so much more potential. But , he is still around in the future , Thats why John was so taken aback when he saw Derek alive, as well as kyle and Alison....it makes for a WTF ending that makes us want more !!!! Derek's death was awesome. No pathetic and ridiculous speeches of diyng Derek, like in almost every movie or serial, when one of the main characters dies. Just *BAM*, and good bye Derek.

Derek's death shocked me because it was totally unexpected at the time it happened and it was just like BOOM! there! wow! However, as Meanoldmoe said, upon watching the "Born to Run" finale, Derek was back after all, only in a different timeline. In the end, he wasn't even gone for one full episode. Too bad we didn't get season 3. Do you find this valuable? |

It was quick and undramatic. It was supposed to be Derek's redemption for killing Jesse (so you're lead to believe) but Sarah is still dismissive of Derek. I did like it how it was almost anti-hollywood, no sputtering, no speech, etc., it was good. A problem with it though is when he died, I knew straight away he would be back some how due to the lack of build up to or time spent on his death. It's also one of the few times that a terminator actually aimed for the head. They seem to mostly aim for the chest and they seem to spend time aiming but the terminator instantly got Derek in the head without much aiming or calculating. Do you find this valuable? |
