There is no Discussion Edit Function on the WetPaint platform
Jan 6 2009, 9:31 AM EST
OK, so the lack of a discussion edit function on this Wiki annoyed me so I opened a new Wiki to see what user functions are available.Folks, the administrator and moderators are NOT holding out on us. There is NO Discussion Forum edit function available on the WetPaint platform. However, any MEMBER can edit any of the other pages of the Wiki (and yes, there is a retained record of who did what). There are three permission levels that the site owner can choose. EVERYONE Anyone can comment, edit, or add pages on your site, even anonymously. “Select this option if you want to limit who can add or edit pages on your site. MEMBERS ONLY There are no anonymous edits allowed, but anyone who joins the site can edit or add pages on your site. “Select this option if you want to closely control the people who contribute and edit content on your site. Best to use when you need and want contributions from a wide audience. INVITED MEMBERS There are no anonymous edits allowed. Only people you invite as writers can add or edit pages on your site. “Best to use when you want to make sure contributors are accountable for their contributions. Best to use when you want to limit contributions to a select group of people, like members of a club or other organization. Who should be able to post threads? Even though on THIS site only members can edit content and add pages, you can determine separately who can post threads. Even though anyone you invite can edit content and add pages, the administrator can determine separately who can post threads. This means: Everyone, even anonymously. Or Anyone who joins the site Adios, Larry -- Central Floridays “I aim to misbehave . . .” Do you find this valuable? |

1. RE: There is no Discussion Edit Function on the WetPaint platform

One day while I was really annoyed by the no edit, I started my own forum that I was going to post on here (That allows posting pictures and editing and all that) but then I realized no one would go to it. But yea, I don't know anything about web programming, but I wonder why wet-paint wouldn't try to attempt to make each post only editable by it's poster. Like no on can edit our profiles, so there are things that only we can edit. Doesn't seem like it would be that hard to implement into a post. Do you find this valuable? |
