What the right timeslot (and network) can do for a show.
Oct 2 2008, 4:50 PM EDT
I know TSCC is no Seinfeld, but it deserves the chance to prove itself, even if it means a time slot or network change. Seinfeld started out in a different time slot but really took off when it moved in to Thursday, right after Cheers. How's that for a lead-in, heh? What is also worth noting is that Fox had the chance to pick up and further develop Seinfeld, but opted out. Hey NBC, ya want another potential hit series? ; - ) Below is from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seinfeld The Seinfeld Chronicles Seasons 1 to 3: The early years The show premiered as The Seinfeld Chronicles on July 5, 1989. The pilot was not very well received. After it aired, a pickup by the NBC network did not seem likely and the show was actually offered to Fox, which declined to pick it up. However, Rick Ludwin, head of late night and special events for NBC, diverted money from his budget, and the next four episodes ("Male Unbonding", "The Stakeout", "The Robbery", and "The Stock Tip") were filmed.[26] These episodes were highly-rated as they followed Cheers on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m., and the series was finally picked up. At one point, NBC considered airing these episodes on Saturdays at 10:30PM, but instead gave that slot to a short-lived sitcom, FM. Do you find this valuable?

I'm not up on the network battles so I don't know where they should put it. Someplace else besides opposite MNF and those other shows. And it would be nice if it was 9pm like before, not a lead-in but following. I think Sci-Fi would be great network for it for Friday night lineup after 7pm showing of SG Atlantis. I don't know if any of their shows pull in over 5 million viewers. Plus lack of advertising is killing it.

This is precisely what all of the movements that keep popping up on this board are all about. There's no way FOX isn't aware of how time slots work, but signing the petition and sending an email with the letter campaign are great ways to let them know that the fans are ready and willing to follow this show into another time slot for the sake of exposing it to more viewers and keeping it on the air. Here's the link to the letter campaign thread: http://terminatorwiki.fox.com/thread/1919579/MOVEMENT+TO+START+WRITE+TO+FOX+RIGHT+NOW and here's the one for the petition: http://terminatorwiki.fox.com/page/TSCC%3A+Petiton+to+move+it+from+Monday+to+Wednesday click the "easy edit" button to add your two cents. By the way, Vic jr, your Seinfeld example is great - if you haven't written to FOX yet, consider adding that to your letter. Do you find this valuable? |

They need to know it's what we, the viewers want. Canning is too easy, the path is least resistance; one that could come back to bite them in the butt if all the alternatives are not seriously considered. I really wonder if they realize how this series and the upcoming movie can complement each other. : - / Do you find this valuable? |
