Advertising of TSCC

I'm just wondering if people think there could be changes with the way the show is advertised? What I mean is, for example, I didn't start watching the series until s2 e3. Up until then I hadn't had much of a clue about Cameron other than Summer Glau was playing a terminator. Also had no clue as to the Cameron/John thing that was apparently made significant in s2 e1. My impression of the show before watching it was that the primary focus would be mostly Sarah as well as her relationship with John, but for me Sarah doesn't really seem like the main character anymore and I think John is filling that role (though that could be a subjective interpretation). So I guess my question is, do you think the show might be more successful if they played up the importance of John's character a little more? (I don't mean changing the name of the show, but maybe focusing more on him in the ads.) Or even if they played up the Cameron/John aspect of the show? (like if they had done that for season 1, since it seems to be less important so far in season 2.) Or even focusing a little more on Cameron? (Of course, I'm aware that I'm posting this as we're nearing episode 4 which is kind of dedicated to Cameron...I guess my question is more regarding the promotion of the series itself, not just the individual episodes.) Note: I'm trying my best not to offend anyone, because I do like Sarah's character. But I think I'm not alone in saying that sometimes I find other aspects of the show to be more interesting. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

"I'm just wondering if people think there could be changes with the way the show is advertised?I'd have to say that I think you're right much as I love Sarah's character and Lena as an actress, she can't sell the show alone. With that said, I think you may be a bit confused about the advertisements. Most of the posters out emphasize Cameron's character, or feature John and Cameron in places of prominence over Sarah. I've seen most of the promo posters for season 2 and none of them have had only sarah in them. I think they ARE vamping up Cameron's character and the John/Cameron dynamic a lot more then you seem to think they are. Do you find this valuable? |

Ya? I guess I did kind of miss that then.I dunno, just from the previews of the show I'd seen I've always had the impression Cameron wasn't that important of a character... I mean, I know I've seen the posters where it had Cameron alone and it would show her metal arm or that poster with just half her body or something, but I always assumed they featured her on the posters because she's the terminator in this series and they wanted to play up the sci-fi/robot aspect of the show, not because they were focusing on her character itself. Maybe I just caught the wrong previews. I guess I've always sort of had the feeling that the show was mostly directed at terminator fanboys and, while I've seen the terminator movies, I was never crazy for them. But I have become increasingly obsessed with this show in quite a short span of time. I guess I'm mostly surprised because I wasn't expecting to like it and I'm not even sure what it is that I like so much about it. Do you find this valuable? |

And I wanted to add that the advertisements aren't what got me interested. I'd read online about the season 2 premiere (specifically about someone crying over the "I love you" scene) which is what made me really curious because I hadn't realized that this show was like that. Plus I was interested in Summer since I loved FireflyI dunno. Maybe I'm brain-dead or something. Do you find this valuable? |

"I've seen most of the promo posters for season 2 and none of them have had only sarah in them. "Actually there are several posters of just Sarah or Sarah in the forefront. Check out the official website, they have them. There are also posters of just Cameron, just the T-1001 and posters with John in the forefront. It's an ensemble cast so they focus on everyone, but I think the overall arch of the whole show is about the relationship between John and Sarah. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Really I think the show is advertised about right........all the characters are important. "No one gets left behind!"Most of the posters and things have Cameron featured more often, but there are just as many posters and ads that have them all in them. Do you find this valuable? |

Yeah, there's a really easy way for the show to be advertised, fox can actually show trailers for new episodes more then just the one time after each episode ends. Don't know how they can afford to keep Fringe and House when every 3rd trailer on that network is for one of those two shows.

It's the amazing Summer Glau that's got you hooked Casin though you may not know it at first! jk. Lots of great stuff on this show. I liked how in this episode the question was asked about how do terminators deal with water? Kinda like a horror movie, does holy water burn demon-possessed people? Terminators? nah...it just slows them down but you can see their evil red glowing eyes better underwater haha.Actually my "favorite" character , or most interesting character so far has amazingly fluctuated. Before the show, I was groaning about a barbie-doll terminator (T-X again!?) and Sarah Connor again(are we ever going to see the future war or be stuck with Sarah's timeline forever???) But the superb acting and crafstmanship by everyone involved has drawn me in tight. I liked Cameron's character the best in the first episodes, then I wanted to see John do more stuff, then BAG's Derek, his psycho intro, now a bit more time but he can still break out pyscho paranoid. I think John of the past has reassured him, he was lost at first but now by s2e3 totally devoted to John again. The writers and producers I bet know they got a hot show going on with lots of room to explore. Like how they try to give each character time, and tease the audience about each of their mysteries. They're all good , even Ellison and Charlie. (though I'm still trying to get used to Weaver(<-sigourney weaver reference???)) I wish they didn't off Michelle, but I guess too many great characters already to share the spotlights. Could be one of the best sci-fi shows ever. Do you find this valuable? |

I first heard about TSCC in one of our local newspapers. Being a Terminator fan I was very excited, I went online to find out as much info as I could on the show.I must say the show was well advertised here, with billboards, TV and magazine ads. Do you find this valuable? |
