A Companion Series for TSCC?????

Fox has also been discussing a companion series to SARAH CONNOR, with executives meeting with advertisers and considering scheduling scenarios that include the show. But no further information is known. Source: http://www.ifmagazine.com/new.asp?article=6115

What could they be thinking?

Cameron fakes her death after the explosion, leaves to Los Angeles, and fight an evil law company called Wolfram & Hart, in her own spin-off called "The Cameron chronicles". 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I think that could just mean they were discussing a show that would go well with Tersminator. No necessarily anything in the same universe. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

That sounds like good news. I don't know anything about the industry but when they start doing that sort of thing isn't it because they consider the show a ratings draw and anchor and they want to build a block of shows around it to take the ratings for the night it's aired on. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Exactly.

Which doesn't explain a 13-episode run for TSCC, if they plan on building pre- and post-shows around it. Something along the lines of 3 hours of sci-fi/action shows with TSCC as the anchor.

"Dollhouse" and "TSCC" would be a great lead-in for "24".

Thoughts?

This seems a like a bizarre rumor; Fox hasn't fully committed to TSCC with a full 22 episodes and they're alrealy scouting for more SciFi? You'd think that they would make a more positive commitment to TSCC before attempting a whole 3 hour block.

Exactly, but its not a bizare rumor. The article I referenced on the first post is references "FOX":

FOX is acting like they committed to 22 episodes, not 13, and TSCC is their marquee scripted series.

There might be something going on in the back offices of FOX and WB that we are not privy to.

They are probably looking for something to "ride along" with T:SCC, so when it gets the big ratings, so will the other show.

They figure if you watch one, you will watch the other. A rather old tactic actually.

This so called companion series could be nothing more then Fox deciding on what show they want to be a lead in for T:SCC. Since, it's starting up in the fall and not January, 24 can no longer be the lead in, as they originally wanted it to be. So, now fox is asking the advertisers about what they would like to see as a lead in for T:SCC, another sci-fi show, or some reality show. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Your right about "24". I forgot its not coming back until January 2009.

Lets hope its not another reality show. Almost all reality shows across the board have shown a decline in viewership. Putting one in front of or behind TSCC will not help TSCC. It should be another good scripted show.

Actually, it should be a 3 hour block of good scripted shows with TSCC either leading off or in the middle. Lets not put TSCC in the last 3 hour slot as that would be risky. FOX pulls shows so fast, I can only hope they put something together that allows TSCC to grow and prosper (as Spock would say). I thought "Standoff" was a good show, but they yanked that one after one season.

Below is the big announcement from FOX for the 2007-2008 season and their status today:

FOX ANNOUNCES PRIMETIME SLATE FOR 2007-2008 SEASON

FOUR NEW DRAMAS, THREE NEW COMEDIES AND THREE UNSCRIPTED SERIES JOIN SCHEDULE

DRAMAS
"K-VILLE" --------- canceled
"NEW AMSTERDAM" --------- on the bubble

COMEDY
"BACK TO YOU" ---------- on the bubble

NEW UNSCRIPTED SERIES
"THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND"--------- canceled
"KITCHEN NIGHTMARES" ------------- unknown
"NASHVILLE" ---------------- unknown

NEW DRAMAS
"THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES" ------------- renewed for 2008-2009
"CANTERBURY'S LAW" ----------- canceled

NEW COMEDIES
"THE RETURN OF JEZEBEL JAMES" ------------- canceled
"UNHITCHED" ----------- on the bubble

I don't have too much faith in the FOX network. They are very quick to pull the trigger regardless if it's a TV show or someone sitting behind their FOX news desk (i.e., Fox and Friends in the mornings).

Thanks for the info LiquidMetal. I liked New Amsterdam. It was perfect but it had potential. I also enjoyed Standoff, Wonderfalls, Firefly - more shows that Fox jumped the gun on and killed before they even had a chance. Do you find this valuable?

Seems like Fringe would be a good partner for TSCC. It should appeal to a lot of the same audience and with the Lost and Alias connections should have a lot of buzz going into the season. You'd have to think that the two shows together and placed on the right night could really lock down the old 18-49 demographic for an evening for Fox (assuming Fringe doesn't turn out to be a dud).

I'd have to think that's the kind of argument they're pitching to advertisers...

Hopefully it will be a show that compliments T:SCC, not bring it down.

Let's face it, the networks are fickle...but its like ive said on other forums...it should be up to the fans, not the networks
