I expected them to cast a gay looking pretty boy for John Connor as that is the trend, so I was prepared for lame in that area. But I had hoped the terminators would look like men. But it was just another guy with gelled boyish hair and alot of pretty boy make-up, who thinks that frowning, wrinkling his nose, and looking into the camera with his chin tucked and staring from beneath his eyebrows makes him look like a badarse, lol. Lame. Guess skynet models it's male terminators nowadays from the old 90210 episodes in it's databanks. You'd think that the "powers that be" behind movies and shows would realize that most of the audience for the Sci-Fi genre are male. I understand their attempt at attracting female fans, but it shouldn't come at the cost of losing their original fans, or at the cost of the movie's/show's potential. But that's "Hollywood" so to speak. And knowing this, I can't say I was surpised at my dissapointment. And of course there was the terminator's line just before leaving the classroom, "Class dissmissed." Wow, classic. Who comes up with lame lines like this that ruin any chance of the movie/show being taken seriously, or making the scene seem more realistic? How do they get hired, or worse, payed for coming up with this kind of cheese? And who is the head lamearse who approves that kind a camp? Summer Glau's acting was great. She has that "not quite there" or "not quite human" look down. Similar to her acting in the "Serenity" movie, which was just spectacular. Lena Headley was ok in her part. She was definately no Linda Hamilton. Lena is a little too skinny for the role in my opinion. Sarah became a fighter in the movies, and Linda Hamilton actually beefed up for the second terminator to better portray the role. A terminator could probably blow Lena's Sarah Connor away with a good stiff fart. 2 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

i am female and i agree with you of the skynet looks thing. my type of guys are not gay type pretty boys but a little more manly. lol this show stinks anyway. could not get past 30 minutes. i love the original terminator movies. dont know why but i do. studios think they know what people want but they do not at all one bit. if they did they would of did a better job on this show.

Well, I never watched T3. Just don't think I would've liked it. I remember the movie trailer and movie poster for T3. Both seemed to focus on the really hot blond with no clothes on. I didn't think the story could be all that great if they had to depend so heavily on sex to promote it. Add that to the fact it was another sequel...Far as I'm concerned it began with T1 and ended with T2.Far as the "Sarah Connor Chronicles" premier goes, I didn't mind the story. Like most pilots based off a movie or book, I thought they tried to put too much in the first episode by trying to introduce all the characters, catch everyone up to speed, etc. I'm just sick of seeing all the gay, makeup wearing, pretty boys that "Hollywood" type casting keeps pushing at us. I find the terminator in the premier a joke rather than some badarse killing machine from the future. Sure, Arnold can't play every male terminator, but there's a lot of male actors out there that actually look like men instead of boys (or little girls). If Cameron ever does a love scene with John, it'll look like incest or women on women. And I'm sick of all the lame jokes and comedy they throw in shows and movies that aren't meant to be comedies. I don't mind some humor to break the tension if the humor actually fits and shows some real wit. That, "Class dismissed," line was just uncalled for, totally lame, and done before. And as someone else mentioned, those shots thrown by the terminator didn't even pass through the lazyboy. I know they probably don't have a high budget for the show, especially starting out, but since they did get a budget and their pilot aired, you'd think they'd have someone with some common sense calling the shots. I don't think the terminator was a bad shot, I think he assumed like most people that the bullets would penetrate some fabric and cushions. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

ok, it was cleared up in another thread as to why the bullets didn't pass, through the lazyboy...kevlar lazyboy, lol. Where are they getting the writers for this show? Sounds like something in a story you'd hear in a gradeschool creative writing class. "Hey! I know. Lets give Sarah a Kevlar living room suit and an armored toilet bowl. Yeah, that's the ticket". lol

In my view John Connor is supposed to look like a weakling, so that his transformation to contrast his resistance leader self and so that you can believe why he doesn't believe in himself. If you look at T2, the kid was annoying as heck, I don't expect his teenage self to be that much more mature. The guy in T3 wasn't manly either; he was scared and couldn't handle a gun. The guy playing old John in T2 was very masculine. John is a mama's boy and doesn't grow up until he has to. He probably doesn't even want to grow up considering what is expected of him. At some point John will find his strength, but not at this age. The reason the bullets didn't pierce the fabrics was explained by the sheriff. He tells the FBI agent that there was "kevlar in that chair". Since Sarah Connors is a paranoid woman, I'm not surprised by this. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Yeah, I know it was explained in the investigation now. But it was a stretch in my opinion. I mean honestly, do the writers think people are stupid, and wouldn't take the hint by Sarah's ditching a guy she loved and taking her son away on yet another move, that she was a little paranoid? Honestly, wouldn't it be cheaper and make more sense if Sarah just bought a new coffee table that was fairly large and thick, then arranged the furniture so that it'd be easy to toss that sucker up on it's side if a terminator come through the door? I mean, what does she do? Does she tell John, "One bag", yet move her kevlar furniture with her wherever she goes, or does she buy/keep kevlar to re-upholster her new furniture every time she moves? The coffee table would definately be a cheaper and more practical approach.

Sarah was living in her boyfriend's house, so I can assume she saved up from waitressing. Also with the fate of the world in her hands, I would also assume she steals. Who do you think taught John to steal?I would also assume she carries an armory with her wherever she goes, possibly hiding jackets in the couches. I don't think she reinforces the furniture, rather she hides things in them. After all, she did hide guns in the wall. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Who do you think taught John to steal?I think they wanted Sarah to be positioned someplace where Cromartie could hold her throat and mimic her voice, so a big chair makes sense. But then it had to become bullet proof, too, so they made up a hokey explanation that there was kevlar in the chair. If we had to accept this, then I would agree that she probably had kevlar vests and was just storing them in the chair. Do you find this valuable? |

Crank up the Black Eyed Pea's and phone the writers guild of America It's 2008! But I think the kevilar chair was just one of those lucky finds in a thrift shop for Sarah when she was furnishing the house. It's plausible, even more so when it comes to older furniture. Do you find this valuable? |

The kevlar chair was just near the shotgun hideout and in front of the door, so a prepared defense and counterattack post (mainly in case of cops, I figure).Plus, that was a quote of Sarah in the CSC in T2, when the cops shot and she responded shooting in the air with her 1911 before to run. About where she get all and how she payed for that, remember what John says in T2: they did a lot of (illegal and remunerative) jobs before her to be caught and, as we see in T2, some friends kept their stuff. Nothing of strange there (IMO). Do you find this valuable? |
