Introduce yourselves!
"I'm noticing a quite a few new members showing up over the past week. Hello to everyone. In the spirit of welcoming, I thought it would be nice if we have a thread where we could just say hello to everyone on the forum, why we're here, favorite characters, our interests, etc. Since it's for everyone new, Mods, could you sticky?
I'll start. I'm a 26/27 year old Ph.D student in Microbiology, didn't become a TSCC fan until halfway through the second season and now I'm hooked. Favorite character is Cameron but believe it or not I'm actually not a shipper (please hold your slings and arrows, I can explain my position but that's outside the purpose of this thread). I'm also a baseball/Xbox fanatic." Hello people, my name's mateo.
I'm a cell biology major/chem minor. i love science fiction and music as well. some favorite bands: incubus, dredg, radiohead, the police. love starwars, the matrix and the science of sleep. i play guitar....i'm here because i realized after the move to friday, our show was in danger...but i've been watching since the first ep..literally every episode. honestly i just loved summer in firefly and the terminator movies were cool...but the show has evolved into something huge for me! i've never gotten this attached to a show, the only other show i watch is heroes once in a while
WHOA Ph.D in micro?! That's awesome! i'm taking micro right now....working on my unknown organisms :/ its a head scratcher! idk if i have negative rods or cocci so i can't do the other biochemical tests/stains but hopefully ill figure it out. i did really well in the other labs, i think i just got a tough combo, with a potentially slow grower :/
oh and some games i dig: mass effect, halo3, nba 2k9, unreal games and um cod4

WE absolutely need the Season 2
"lol im glad im not the only one out here that feels that life is reality enough... when i want to entertain myself the last thing i personally find entertaining is survivor 27 "Lost in the projects of newark"
T-1976 isnt that a soap opera? as the stomache turns? lol
Heidi all good shows but lest we forget the great ones of the past (available now on DVD THANK GOD) M*A*S*H*, A-Team, Knight rider, Sanford and son, Buck Rogers, Battlestar (the original) and logans run ;) am i dating myself? lol
sooo where do the plates go? in that cupboard over there? ;) " ROTFLMAO!!! "Lost in the Projects of Newark" indeed! I live about 45 minutes from Newark and almost got lost there while trying to follow someone at 2 a.m. She had Easy Pass, I didn't, we got separated on the....parkway or turnpike (one of those), no cell phone, I'm a bad night driver, NOT originally from NJ and...well, it's certainly a living nightmare I never hope to repeat. I did attend college in Newark though. Wasn't too bad if you were smart and stuck to the campus.
As for the other shows, I remember 'em too. We're probably close in age. Stingray is finally being released on DVD. I have a photo still of him up in a hallway. I had Space 1999 walkie talkies as a kid and remember when it took half and hour to down load a simple computer game from a cassette. (Actually had a younger co-worker once swear up and down that cassettes never held programs. lol!)
Yes, the plates go in the cupboard right above the dishwasher. The cups too. Just be careful of my favorite writing mugs, will you? They remind me of my lead charater's homeworld. :-P

THE REAL SEASON 2 PROMO ONLINE!!!!
Maybe Cameron starts being mean to John because she decided he's taking the whole preparing for Judgement Day and then leading the resistance far too lightly, so she's entered game mode and is presenting successively harder challenges to him so he can improve his game.
Also was that John looking at himself in the mirror with some superficial head wounds towards the end of the clip? Maybe its not John but another Terminator looking like John who has to replace John as leader of the resistance and so ensure its never effective against Skynet.
Thanks for posting the link Schmacky!

It is a struggle writing part 2
"I noticed while writing my fan fic that I had a moment of "Oh so this is what it feels like to push the envelope". I think that is why you get some phenomenal stories like "Adam Raised Cain" and "Born to Run" and some okay episodes like "some must watch while some must sleep". This also explains why you can get break out stories like "The Matrix" and have absolute flops like "The Shadow". There's a definite technique to pushing the envelope to a point that is believable and intriguing for the reader/watcher but if you go just a little to far you jump the shark and at that point nobody believes it. I'm currently going through some of that with the current chapter I’m writing. I have a MAJOR plot twist coming up but I paced around for hours thinking about if I wanted to do it or not and if people would like it and if it would work in the story.
We also have to contend with the issue that most of us that are writing fan fic’s are doing it alone. TSCC had what, like 6 writers or something? While some people may forget certain parts of the story or plot others may not and they can play off of each other. Doing it alone adds a whole new degree of challenge to things. " Enigma6482, You are so right! I am so treading a thin line between believable fantasy and outright ludicrousness. I am building to a major personal climax for John midway through part 2, and a huge plot twist prior to the ending. Its the plot twist that has me pacing. Is it too much? (ie jumping the shark) or will it be one of those moments that make people go 'Ah Hah.' when they read it. Then comes the placement of the plot twist in the whole scheme. Then how many hints do I seed within the story. I think I'm going bald from all the hair pulling. :-)
