Now that my epic long story REUNION is finished, I've had some people ask me what I will be planning for the future. Good question. The immediate future will be catching up on some unfinished home repairs. I've got some new electrical wire to install and a window to repair. But that isn't what you want to hear. You want to know what I'll be writing.

Reunion was a long story divided into 3 parts of 13, 18, and 11 chapters each of 8000 to 14000+ words each. A very ambitious project for a first time author. I do have in mind a series of sequels. Each more of a novella or small novel of approximately 20 chapters each and each novella will have it's own theme. I've already worked out a series of titles and I am working what each story will be for each title. I don't know if I will include time travel as I want to focus on trying to stop Judgment Day despite the feeling or knowledge that it is inevitable. It is up to the characters to find those behind it and stop them before it is too late. If they can.

this weeks ep was one of the best , 1st part of the first 2 parter for castle.
it followed premeire of DWTS { you know the show that killed Tscc} and castle got its highest rating ever , beat csi miami, and won the hour for the first time. so I bet Nathan F. is happy.
Wehn the show first started it was ok, but not all that good. but this season the actors have the characters down and it just gets better and better. it is a fun show to watch.

well gusar you prove my point right there! Nielsen ratings cancel shows, it isnt about how good a show is. and I am not saying cpae was a well done show, it wasnt, but neither was smallville.

smallville was on the cw, it was a iconic character, superman as a teen, and most importantly tom welling was chosen for the part, add kristen and lex and demo women and men ,watched just to look at them.

If I compare the 1st 10 eps of SV to cape, I would have to say the cape was more fun and interesting to watch, and that both shows were childish and poorly conceived and written.

but smallville had enough nielsen viewers watching to stay on.

the wb put alot into smallville and expected it to be a bigger hit, but it just did good enough to stay on.

supernatural is a much better show than smallville , but never got the ratings like SV did , again just good enough to stay on.

my point also is no one knows how many people are really watching any show, it is all estimated guesswork. and therefore cant be very accurate.

also if a show is bad , but ratings keep it on more people will eventually start watching it. even bad shows have people who like it and think it is good.

most of us who watched the cape didnt like the kid, but the op here thought he was great, which proves no matter how bad someone or a show is there are those who like it.

and even if it is 25,000 nielsen families, which I doubt, I think that would include the mail ratings /sweeps stuff. 25,000 in a country of 3oo million is a very small % controlling what the rest of the america and in a way the world gets to see, or I should say keep seeing.

but it has nothing to do with the quality of a show, just the timeslot it happens to be put in, and whether the nielsen people are interested in that type of show at that time.

many times the nielsen crowd dont even try a show , so it goes away, or a few watch the first ep and drop it.

25,000 people is like what % of the population ? 1/100? and out of those 25.000 only about 500 watched smallville, so 500 people kept the show on.

if instead of estimates, they said how many nielsen people were watching all the tv shows, everyone would see what a joke it is and how a few people decide a shows fate.

Why the "All Threads" page 1 looks weird

For those of you wondering why the "all threads" page 1 on the discussion forum looks the way it does right now, I asked, and here's what CryingDove (by far our most savvy member at Wetpaint Central) said to me:

"This is the same issue that happens with the profiles. Wetpaint builds a form then fills in the form with the content it gathers. In the case of All Threads, it sets up the form with the expand thread buttons, number of pages, background color and alternate color of the thread, etc. Then it gets a list of the threads from the database in fills in the form as it expands the form (like the content area of a page).

In the case the all threads on the SCF wiki, the form was closed before it could expand to accommodate the rest of the list.

There is nothing we can do from the user side to fix this. It would have to be corrected on the server side.

I, at this point in time, have no idea on how to contact Wetpaint on any issues we are facing. There is only one way to bring this to the front is to post a thread on the Occupy wiki. This way it will not be forgotten and will be in a single place, just in case Wetpaint looks at the Occupy wiki again.

I know what is wrong, but cannot fix it here. As I said, it will have to be fixed by Wetpaint

Just so you guys know. Any more comments or suggestions are welcome. I'm considering to post this at the mentioned "Occupy Wetpaint wiki". By the way, for those worried about the future of this format, I vow you all to join there. Doesn't hurt one bit.

Ok, I feel this is a little overdue. Here is a thread for our favorite Scottish musician/terminator. Not only is she talented, but is beautiful as well!

Shirley has contributed greatly to the show this season, both as an actress and musician, and is much deserving of a thread all her own! The addition of the Catherine Weaver character has added, imo, one of the most interesting storylines of the series. Still to this day her agenda is unknown, and her path is on a collision course with that of the Connors we know for sure. Cold-blooded and ruthless, yet strikingly beautiful and intriguing, Catherine Weaver has been a wonderful addition to the best show on television.

The toddler-sized robot they have been using in their research, called Nao, has been programmed with an ethical principle that was discovered by a computer. This learned principle allows their robot to determine how often to remind people to take their medicine and when to notify an overseer, such as a doctor, when they don’t comply.

Reminding someone to take their medicine may seem relatively trivial, but the field of biomedical ethics has grown in relevance and importance since the 1960s. And robots are currently being designed to assist the elderly, so the Andersons’ research has very practical implications...

“Machines would effectively learn the ethically relevant features, prima facie duties, and ultimately the decision principles that should govern their behavior in those domains,” says Susan.

Although this is a vision of the future of machine ethics research, Susan thinks that artificial intelligence has already changed her chosen field in major ways.

She thinks that working in machine ethics, which forces philosophers who are used to thinking abstractly to be more precise in applying ethics to specific, real-life cases, might actually advance the study of ethics.

And she believes that robots could be good for humanity: she believes that interacting with robots that have been programmed to behave ethically could even inspire humans to behave more ethically.

1. I'm glad that someone else wrote this: as I said, I don't like Ellison and find his religiosity unreally exaggerated (he seems to belong to the 50s), so I was avoiding to begin a discussion about this argument... but you did, so...
I found the idea to use religion with JH very bad by Ellison, mainly because religion is usually about humans/natural beings, while JH wasn't. JH/Ellison dialogs many times reminded me of Short Circuit 2, with Jonny5 asking the priest "do I have a soul"... this is a great example of how wrong is to use religion with an AI, right because many religions put humans above everything else (but their gods).
The only religious person I would have allowed JH to attend would be a Buddhist, because Buddhism is more a philosophy than a religion. For the very (very!) few I know about, a Buddhist uses reasoning much more than rules.

2. Yes, this is good, even if all is considered by JH as suggestions/ideas, and not as rules: he needed to reason.
