  • The Connor's "new" last name is Baum in honor of the book author's last name
  • The nicknames Sarah jokingly calls Cameron are "Tin-Man" & "Tin-Miss"
  • Their former home was in Kansas
  • In "Goodbye to All That" Sarah and Cameron kidnap a young Bidell before the terminator kills him. As they that are protecting him he reads the "Wizard of Oz" for a book report. As the story darkens at the end of the book he becomes scared because he was almost killed.
In the beautifully written conclusion of the episode excerpts of the storie's conclusion are interwoven with the stopping and destoying of the terminaor by John and Derek.
  • In Mr. Fereson is Ill Today Sarah, Derek, Cameron and John stop Cromartie for good. After Agent Ellison asks "what's next" Sarah tells him "there's nothing else behind the curtain." Sarah alludes to herself as the Wizard of Oz, who, of course has the story named after.
  • They use a tormado to explain family problems
  • In Self Made man Cameron compares Myron Stark's killing of the junio Chandler an accident like the house falling on the Wicked Witch of the East. Both events occurred at their arrival and unintentionally killed people.
  • At the end of the Second Season John Connor goes to the future. He was already aware of what it would be like. He has grown up through his trials. He sees his old friends from his past life but they don't know him or his story: his Uncle Derek, his cyborg Cameron is the real person Alison, and even his father Kyle is clueless about who he has been.

  • Just like Dorothy going back home at the end of the Wizard of Oz.

Many viewers have noticed the numerous and varied references to Frank L. Baum's classic childrens book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" throughout Season 1.

What do you think are the significances of the Oz fable to this story in terms of story development, character development, and other deeper concepts of the show?

And if you have concrete examples, be sure to place them in the Wizard of Oz-ology reference list.

Enjoy!

bot[CS1.6] Possible Wizard of Oz link..... 8 Sep 6 2008, 6:15 PM EDT by T850-101

I was re-watching the "Dungeons and Dragons" episode. (I just picked up the series during rerun week) and I noticed the following picture.

http://terminatorwiki.fox.com/photo/1285569/Lion+Logo

I remembered stumbling upon the page about Oz connections to Terminator:SCC. I think maybe this might be another, weak maybe, connection. The logo features a Lion with the head of a Terminator in its mouth. As mentioned John can be seen as the Lion in Oz, needs to find courage. Therefore the logo may be suggesting John found of courage and his fight against the machines. That may not be enough to convince many, including myself, that there is an Oz link but then I got thinking. Why did they use a Lion? If you want a large cat why not go with the standard tiger? Or another animal? A smashed calculator? It may just be wishful thinking and over analysis of a simple logo and quiet possible there is no link to Oz.
