Well, i've noticed that there seems to be a good amount of gamers on this board so I thought it'd be a good idea to create an OT thread where we can share friend codes and XboxLive tags and what not!

And of course to talk about games. I absolutely LOVE video games and yes, i'm one of those few gamer chicks out there. We are here! It IS possible for girls to like video games I swear! :D

Well, I had a question for you guys. I recently got a job and I've been saving up money to buy either an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 (I already have a Wii btw)... I have enough money for a 360 and i'm pretty much leaning toward getting one right now, but i'm kinda having a dilemma!

The only console i've had for the past 4 years has pretty much been a Playstation 2 which I totally LOVE to death! Sony has never let me down and i've spent many an hour playing happily on my obsolete PS2 even 2 years since the next generation of consoles arrived.

So, I guess I have somewhat of an affinity towards Sony, but that's just bias on my part. What i'm worried about with the Xbox 360 is the INSANELY HIGH failure rate! (16% AHHH!) The pros of the 360 is of course all the great games out for the console and the great online support. Playstation 3 pros = Blu-Ray, much lower failure rate, and of course my slight affection/bias that comes from my love for the PS2.

So... which one should I get? O_O

And it takes place in space, drawing inspiration from Star Trek (the main ship is called Enterprise, the Captain's name is Riker as in Will Riker from TNG) and BSG 2004 (the ships of the Deep Space Defense Armada are all carriers that are very similar to Battlestars, they even have flight pods, but they're at the aft section of the ship, similarly to the warp nacelles in Star Trek, their FTL works the same way, CIC instead of Bridge).

Now, on my ships, I don't want any crazy sensors like the Star Trek sensors but I do need a way for them to get real-time data from distant star systems. Also, what kind of sensors would the ship have? X-Ray Imager, at least, right? What other ways do we, you know scan the stars? lol

And also, I'm a bit obsessed with all of the technical stuff and I don't really have well-developed characters yet. What is the best way to balance the two?

And the ships are very militarisitc. Has any one ever served on an aircraft carrier that could share some info with me that might help?

this manual might give you a few ideas: http://www.flbgr.org/pdfs/WAA_briefing_r.pdf it discusses several imaging technologies including PenRad or Penetrating Radar which can look through objects. PenRad has been around for over a decade and can find any kind of energy signature on the planet, so I imagine it can do the same for cosmic bodies given the power.

If you're looking into Star Trek type weapons, you should study HAARP which has been speculated as the cause of the spiral light in Norway (There's one in the North Pole too). I have a thread going on that event.

You can also look into the "Woodpecker Grid" discussed by Col. Tom Bearden. It's kind of like a metromesh WiFi network, but it uses scalar waves. It can be used as a sensor array and a weapon that instantly materializes energy blasts anywhere on the "grid."

I have a personal take on Cameron. Here's my idea about what she is.

Arnold in T1 and T2 was a T-800-CSM-101

The "T-800" is his endoskeleton. The "CSM-101" means "Cyberdyne Systems Model 101" and refers to his skin.

Now, I think of Cameron in the same way. I think of her as a T-888-TOK-715.

The T-888 is her endoskeleton, and the TOK-715 is the skin that looks like Allison. Who knows what the "TOK" part stands for, though.

It was always my impression that the TOK-715 was referring to her skin, in the same way that Arnie was promoted as a T-101 or a CSM-101 in all promotional materials. His endoskeleton was never really mentioned on posters and adverts; it was always his skin model ID.

Who agrees?

This is a bit of a crack thread but....... anyway i was thinking of firefly today I couldn't get this picture of a statue of sarah connor in the middle of some hick town. so eventually a story formed and it goes something like this.

So the connor crew are going to a small town some where out in the middle of nowhere because the name of the town was on the wall. Sarah has insisted that it was a mistake and that they got the name of the town wrong but because of her weired behavior everyone decided to come along. When they reach the town everyone is taken back because main street in downtown is named Sarah Connor Blvd. and all the main stores on the street are titled Sarah Connor's ......
Even the high school is named Sarah Connor Memorial High School with a statue of a noble looking Sarah pointing to the sky. We find out that when Sarah was one month preggers with John she went on a training trip and passed through the town and helped drive out a mean Rancher or something and the people of the town hero worshiped her and as the town begain to grow so did the hero worship intill they where one name on a petition away from changing the towns name to sarah town. The connors now have to complete there.

alright people let the crack ensue. (sorry for the bad grammer)
