| TERMINATOR MODEL: | ABOUT THIS TERMINATOR |
| Model/series information: The R series Terminator represents a new design concept for Skynet's warrior/infiltrator design. Whilst previous terminator designs required concessions in endoskeleton design in order to protect the fragile neural net processor and it's power support systems, the R series eliminates this concept entirely. By bonding the components of the neural net processor on a hardened molecular substrate "supermaterial", the Cpu itself is physically tougher than any armor plating that could be feasibly manufactured without absurd concessions to energy and material costs. The toughness of the CPU removes the requirement for elaborate power dampening microcircuitry , shock absorbers and power regulation systems that protect the chip against overload or plasma shock. As a result of this the R series endoskeleton is much smaller and lighter than traditional terminator designs. Infiltrator models of the T-R series can also boast remarkable quantities of vat grown skin, muscle tissue and functional engineered organs that store nutrients and can absorb them from consumed food. The extent and quality of the R series organic components are such that overlooking the rather surprising omission of an emulated heartbeat/pulse ,a light medical grade physical examination of a T-R series would be unable to distinguish one from a human. AKA(s): R series(Skynet). Zombie doll(humans on reprogramming an R series prototype in reference to it's ability to survive endoskeletal death) Featured in: Created by: Special effects: Played by: TALK ABOUT THIS TERMINATOR | Design specifications: Prototypes: None. CPU was developed independently and than followed by an purpose built endoskeleton. Physical appearance: Female, of age 18-25, 5'9", hispanic, caucasian. Endoskeleton characteristics: The R series endoskeleton is an prime example of advanced simplicity. Due to the indestructability of the Neural Processor , the R series does not require vital systems aside from an power cell and a series of simplistic and robust power distribution nodes. The physical form of the endoskeleton resembles that of the T-X series, though it is somewhat shorter and less enclosed, with the hydraulic and motor systems apparently exposed. This is somewhat of an defensive illusion,as transparent high impact polymers reinforce the chassis granting flexibility and resistance to mechanical shock. In overall effect, the R series can tolerate considerable physical damage to critical systems without a loss of functioning. Aritificial Intelligence factors: The T-R-900 is one of the most "human" terminators yet and Skynet has taken calculated risk to prevent a mismatch between it's extremely elaborate mimicry of physical human anatomy and it's "mental anatomy", by leaving the CPU open to learning and adaptation. Design mods from previous models:The exoskeleton has it's basis in the T-X model, though it utilises only a fraction of the material resources without a significant loss of general combat prowess. Design flaws:The R series is a technically a smaller and weaker endoskeleton design than the T-X or T-950 series. This is considered to be offset by its substantially smaller weight and reliability when heavily damaged. Development history: The R series was developed in response to analysis of performance of other models in extended combat. Whilst terminators with superior endoskeletons were initially more effective in combat, they became considerably less so when their complex systems accumulated damage which could not be easily repaired. Given the energy and material expense in construction of later models like the T-X, and their lack of real world combat effectiveness relative to much lesser endoskeletons like the T-800, development of a terminator that could address the limitations of the fragile CPU protected by a durable endoskeleton designs was commissioned. Realising the impossibility of mass producing the indestructable but highly energy intensive 'molecular supermaterial' on a large scale, it was a logical step to employ it in manufacturing the core componant of the terminator :the CPU, whilst offsetting this extra energy and materials cost in the advantages it brings to the endoskeleton design. Capabilites:The R series is neither the strongest nor the most powerful terminator . However because it does not require extensive systems to support its indestructable CPU, it is notably more resillient to severe damage that would incapacitate another terminator model. For example , models such as the T-800 are known to suffer rapid shutdown if damage occurs to its central power supply. As an additionally supplement to reliability the R series's posesses a small internal supply of polymimetic alloy , increases the likelihood of maintaining capable physical operation even after the total loss of the main induction fluid hydraulics. If the endoskeleton is damaged to the point of non functionality the CPU is easily removed and placed into another endoskeleton within minutes, negating the loss of experience or valuable data gathered by the terminator. Combat role/modes: The R series is an versatile combat capable infiltrator design rather than a single purpose combat model. The R series endoskeleton with its simplistic nature does sacrifice advanced functionality such as built in weaponary or analysis tools in favor of reliability. Nevertheless the R series in testing has shown it to be capable of posing a challenge to models as advanced as the T-X, and with the right environmental conditions a moderate probability of a successful termination. How this Terminator infiltrates:This terminator is designed to be sent back through the time displacement machine. Posessing one of the most advanced CPU's yet, the R series is considerably more competent at infiltration and social skills than previous models. The CPU incorporates considerable non linear hardware for the processing of "logic" that allow the modelling of abstract concepts, allowing the understanding of human psychology far more effectively. Trademark attack style: The R series has sophisticated logic integrated in it's CPU to deal with the physics of firearms. The R series is adept but not as suited to direct melee combat as heavier units, though due to its quantity of lightweight ploymer and ceramic componants, it is more resistant to impact damage than some heavier models. Casualty count: None. Yet.... Best lines: Best scenes: Demise: The CPU of the R series, manufactured onto and sheathed inside a layer of molecular supermaterial, is essentially indestructable in any situation. Even human operatives which have successfully removed and than attempted to destroy an R-type CPU have been unsucessful. However it is easily disconnected from the endoskeleton if sufficient damage is done to the cranial armor, which is a distinct possibility in a situation where heavy weaponary is involved. In fact the primary fate of Skynet's only existing R-types, a small number of prototypes have been due to skynet leaving CPU's in it's prototype models open for reprogramming , and hence the T-R prototypes being targeted captured and reprogrammed to fight on the side of humans. |
