ABOUT JOHN CONNOR / JOHN BAUMJohn Connor is the future leader of the Resistance against Skynet in the post-apocalyptic world after Judgement Day. He is the son of Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese. Prior to the war, several Terminators were sent back to assassinate John, as well as his mother. Since childhood he has been raised in the art of war by his mother, Sarah Connor. Biography Early life (1985-1995/*1998, see Deviating Timeline*) John Connor was born to Sarah Connor on February 28, 1985 (Terminator 2: Judgement Day). His father, Kyle Reese, had been killed several months prior in May 1984, protecting Connor from a time-traveling Terminator (The Terminator). John's early life was filled with training by various persons his mother Sarah had met as the two lived off the grid after the attempt on her life by the Terminator. Much of his training concentrated on the areas of weaponry, computer technology, and espionage. When Sarah Connor was shot and arrested after trying to blow up a factory, John was placed into foster care and told that his mother's stories of the future were delusions. He was unable to cope with life in suburbia and rebelled, edging towards delinquency and receiving a police record (which included trespassing, shoplifting, disturbing the peace, and vandalism) by the time he was ten years old. His foster parents, Todd and Janelle Voight, found themselves unable to deal with him, and were not surprised when a police officer (T-1000) showed up at their door asking to speak with John. In 1995, John's life was changed in a matter of seconds, when a T-1000 came back from the year 2029, programmed to assassinate him. A T-800 (whom John later nickname "Uncle Bob") had also come back in time, this one programmed to protect him. John, now believing his mother's stories, used the protector T-800 to save his mother from the mental institution. The three then proceeded to seek out Miles Dyson, the would-be creator of the 'neural-net processor', in an attempt to stop Judgement Day from ever occuring. Deviating Timelines Two main timelines begin after the events of Terminator 2. One is handled in the movie Terminator 3, and the other the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which has no ties to Terminator 3. Both timelines change John's age during the events of Terminator 2, to being 13 years old, instead of 10, thus making a fluid timeline impossible. Sarah Connor Chronicles (1999-*2007 [Time Jump]) See, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Drifter years *Terminator 3 Timeline* (1995-2003) Having survived the assassination attempts of the T-1000, John Connor again dropped off the grid, living as unobstrusively as possible. Sarah Connor, his mother, would die of cancer in 1997. He took up various odd jobs to pay his way and convinced himself that the actions he and Sarah had taken had prevented Judgment Day from happening. In 2003, however, John was once again thrown back into the turmoil of his still unresolved future. Skynet had once again sent a Terminator back in time to try and finish him off. This new model, the T-X, was a substantial upgrade over the older T-1000 model, capable of creating mechanical parts (flamethrowers, saw blades, etc.) as opposed to simple stabbing weapons. A T-850 unit was sent back once again to protect John from this new weapon, but there was an unforeseen event surrounding its arrival. Second Judgment Day (2003) John Connor and the newly reprogrammed T-850 were once again faced with a familiar situation. With a newer, highly advanced Terminator after him, Connor had to round up as many future generals as he could before Judgement Day occurred. There is some confusion over these events, though, as John thought that Judgement Day was stopped in 1995. Although it was delayed by the events surrounding the destruction of Cyberdyne, the T-850 revealed to him that Judgement Day was inevitable, and that the previous actions only delayed it. Though the T-850 was successful in stopping the T-X, it was too late. The newly redeveloped Skynet went online and became self-aware. It perceived humanity to be a threat and launched nuclear warheads at other countries. They responded in kind and the nuclear holocaust of Judgement Day began. Connor and Kate survived by being led down to a military bunker, Crystal Peak, in the hopes of being able to remotely shut down Skynet from there. They only found Crystal Peak to be abandoned military shelter, and realized the Terminator sent them down there to protect them from Judgement Day. They went on to form the beginnings of the human resistance. TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (alternate timeline): . Two years after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, John Connor and his mother, Sarah, tried to settle down to a normal life, apparently believing their nightmare of Skynet and its machines is over. Sarah was even engaged to paramedic Charley Dixon. However, fearing discovery of her past, Sarah and John left Charley. Trying to settle down in Red Valley, New Mexico, John enrolled in a local high school , where he met a pretty girl named Cameron Phillips. On the next day, John found himself once again being attacked by a Terminator, which identified itself as Cromartie. When the cyborg was about to succeed in killing John, Cameron saved him and John realized that she was a machine herself, but sent by his future counterpart. After the failed attempt to kill John, Cromartie then abducted Sarah to lure John, only to encounter interference from Cameron once again. The mother and son learned what happen at Cyberdyne had merely changed the future slightly, and Judgment Day was postponed to April 21, 2011. On returning to Los Angeles, Cameron followed an elaborated plan made by John's future self to fake Sarah and John's deaths using a time displacement device to travel forward to 2007, so they can stop running from the authorities and focus to stop the rising Skynet. But the world in 2007 proves complex: they find Skynet has sent additional Terminators back in time to support its own creation, and the resistance movement has sent back its own fighters to interfere. They seek out an intuitive chess computer called The Turk, which may be a precursor to Skynet. During this quest, they discovered that John's father has an older brother, Derek Reese, whom was also sent back to help them against Skynet and its machines. Derek and John later bonded after discovering each other's existences, with Derek occasionally talking to John about his father. Settling down in 2007, John enrolls in Campo de Cahuenga High School under the name of John Baum, where he is friends with Morris and Riley. Removed 'Assassination of John Connor' text as was pure speculation by the author and has not been stated ior referred to in the series (or films). ----- nitpicker note: Noted in TSCC "Automatic for the People": The date code used alters John's Birthday to 14 November 1983, for the altered timeline used in TSCC. This accounts for the varation of the date of Kyle Reese's jump, 2007 rather than 2009 as established in the first movie and the date of John's jump to the future where he was 15 rather than 14. ----- I.Join note: According to what the policeman said in the first movie: Kyle Reese: What day is it? The date. Policeman: 12th May. Thursday. It should have been 1983, not 1984 (12th May 1984 was a Saturday) We can suppose 28th Feb 1985 is only the date the police knows (since it comes form a police terminal), not his real birthday... or the policeman was confused cause a gun on his face. TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES SEASON 2 JOHN CONNOR After the close encounter with Cameron's bad side (as her chip as damaged) in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 Episode 1 Samson and Delilah. John Connor has turned over a new leaf as he knows he has the weight of the future Human Resistance on his shoulders. As episode 2 comes to the opening scenes John comes across a beautiful girl called Riley, a woman from the future (unbeknownst to him) to help John overcome his future love for Cameron. John goes to the fair with Riley as Cameron stays and looks after him while walking with Riley. John takes Cameron to the shops while he goes to the computer store to pick up some computer hardware and software. After Cameron has her walk about with her new friend John is looking all over the place for her in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 Episode 4. In Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 Episode 5 we see John team up with his uncle Derek Reese, older brother of John's father Kyle, to help protect a young student at a military school. This is because Skynet has set back a Terminator T-888 to kill John Connor's partner in setting up the Human Resistance in the future man and machine war. | CHARACTER CONNECTIONS

| Aliases Because John is attempting to hide from Skynet, he often uses aliases and false identities. Despite this, he rarely changes his first name and his last names are often drawn from his personal life. John Reese - (Pilot) Reese was the last name of John's biological father, Kyle Reese. John Baum - (Gnothi Seauton) Baum is the last name of the author of the Wzard of Oz, a book that John Connor's mother often read to John when he was a child. | Paradox Theory Many people believe that Kyle Reese is John Connor's father, which would create a paradox: John would not exist in the original timeline to defeat Skynet and send Kyle back to protect his mother in the first place. This leads many fans to one of two possible options that:

| Behind the Scenes In Terminator 2, the young John Connor was portrayed by Edward Furlong, while the older version was portrayed by Michael Edwards and the infant version was by Linda Hamilton's real life son Dalton Abbot. In Terminator 3, John was portrayed by Nick Stahl (unlike in T2, the same actor portrays John as a young man and as his older self.) Thomas Dekker portrays John in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, with John DeVito playing an even younger John on the show. And in the next film, Terminator Salvation, Christian Bale would portray a war experienced John Connor. In the Sarah Connor Chronicles John is listed as 15 years old, in his mother's FBI record, and on the show's website. However his birthday (1985-02-28) as established in The Terminator and Terminator 2 would make him 14 when the show is set (September 1999/2007, with a time jump in between). | ||||||

Ok, John was 15 when they jumped to 2007 and had hi 16th birthday at the end of season one. The marker over Derek's grave read 2009. So John would be about 17 or even 18... unless they just jumped us forward so that the show stays current.
What do you think? I think John is acting more like an 18 year old rather than a 16 year old. |

Anybody else think that Christian Bale and the future John Conner in T2 look a little alike?
Also, the other guy signed on for TS: the future begins, Marcus Schenkenberg looks kinda like Michael Biehn. |
