Couple of things to note: Shows typically drop 40-60% each week after release, so you can use this information to extrapolate sales. The Dollhouse estimate, for example, is an estimate formed by this metric a month after Season 1's release (62k drops to 25-37k which in turn drops to 12-19k and so on). Obviously there are several shows which don't fit this estimate, and these are the shows which remain on the charts for weeks, such as Weeds, Family Guy, and True Blood. But these are the exceptions.
